Noah Webster Academy WINS!

Ever since the beginning of the school year the scholars have been working hard for the BYU Elementary School Race. They ran laps at lunch recess and worked hard in PE. Some of them even went home and ran around there backyard for extra practice. So, on Wednesday they finally got the chance to prove themselves. They had to run one mile and the competition was tough! Some of these elementary kid's mile times were under 7 minutes, that's intense! Noah Webster Academy had a lot of participants from each grade run but I wasn't sure if they were going to place first in the competition.
Finally we got down to the 6th grade boys, the last race of the day. They absolutely dominated the other schools. The picture shows all the 6th grade boys who placed. They each got a ribbon, which means they were in the top 10. This gave the school the boost it needed right into first place! I couldn't believe it when they announced our school was the winner. We now have a big trophy in the office and all the scholars can brag that this is the first trophy won by the school. I was so proud of them. It was kind of like watching your own child accomplish something incredible!

I remember how much I loved my school kids...It really was like they were my own. I bet the kids are all in love with you. I'll never forget a little boy coming up to me after we had dismissed for the day and he put his little arms around my waist and said "my Miss Niven." Then he just smiled up at me and walked away. I thought my heart would burst. That was about 27 years ago, the little guy is now in his 30's. Wow, what a thought.
