We had the chance to go and see Body Worlds 3 in Salt Lake and can I tell you it was awesome! While in college (that makes me sound old) I studied cadavers for an anatomy class. I had to memorize almost every muscle, bone, nerve, and blood vessel in the body. Unfortunately, I've forgotten about 50% of what I learned but I remember most of the important stuff. It was fun to walk around and explain stuff to Dave like I was his personal tour guide.
The museum featured the heart. They had a story written about the importance of the heart, they made an interesting point that the heart is one of the first organs to function and the last organ to stop. The heart pumps about 1,800 gallons of blood in a day...there was a room full of barrels to represent the workload of the heart, that's a lot of blood.
They also made a reference to the importance of exercise and eating right. I wanted to stand on my soap box and yell the importance of doing just that, take care of your body! I love learning about the human body and what we need to do to take care of it. Maybe that's why I chose the profession I'm in.
I didn't stand there in the museum and yell but Dave and I committed to eating less and exercising more. After the heart we learned about each one of the organs and what happens if their infected by a tumor or disease. We also learned about the circulatory system and nervous system. I was so amazed at how fragile our bodies are but somehow we survive car crashes, ski accidents, and can I add that child birth still amazes me. What a day!

Ok....maybe I'm glad you didn't see me in Idaho! My body is...a little less than in shape! :)
I'm so jealous--I've been wanting to go to that, but Curt of course has no desire! That's so cool! I miss our anatomy classes; I loved learning about the body. Our bodies are so amazing, and speaking from experience, childbirth is the most amazing thing!
