Order in the Court...

Today Dave and I experienced something I hope no one has to go through more than once in their life. I had to go to court to take care of a ticket I received two weeks ago. The ticket was for, "failure to stay within one lane of traffic, crossing the HOV lane, and hitting the median." Yeah that's a lot of laws to break but let me clear my name before you all think less of me!

Two weeks ago Dave and I bought a new car...hooray! We were driving back Sunday morning and lucky for us, one of the worst snow storms was coming through Utah. Around Pleasant Grove my car (the Acura) spun out of control and sent me sliding across two lanes of traffic into the cement median. Needless to say Dave and I were both in shock at what had happened. The situation only got worse as a cop came over to write me a ticket.

So today was the big day. We spoke with the State Representative and he understood and cleared me of all charges (wow that sounds like I'm a convict). I felt like 100 pounds had been taken off my shoulders! To celebrate the momentous occassion Dave took a picture of me with my first ticket and hopefully last. This whole experience has really made me grateful for the tender mercies in my life.

Congratulations, Hailey! I'm so glad you were able to get it cleared up! And I'm even more glad you weren't hurt!

Oh my gosh Hailey ... we are so glad that you were not convicted of driving in the median...that would look terrible of your record. By the way, if you feel like you have had 100 lbs. lifted off your shoulders then you must be floating away...haha. We love our little law breaker. j/k We want to see a picture of the new ride.

It would be tempting to report the officer who wrote the ticket under those conditions. It is a good thing he lives in Utah where people 'turn the other cheek'. Glad to hear that the state representative had the common sense and good judgement to dismiss the charges for a ticket that should have never been issued in the first place.
