January 25 was Dave's birthday...yep it was a week ago and I missed blogging about it. With my birthday I blogged the next day but Dave's birthday was forgotten between primary lessons, ski trips, and snowshoeing.
This birthday was extra hard to plan because it was on a Sunday and frankly what can you do on Sundays? He had his usual toilet paper trail for presents where he got lots of chips and candy. After a delicious and let me say healthy bowl of Reeses Puffs he helped me plan our Primary lesson. We spent church wrestling with three 5 year olds who were probably just as tired as we were (church at 1:00 pm is the pits).
That night my mom cooked a delicious dinner that featured some of Dave's favorite meals from home. This included ham, jello mixed with applesauce (actually it's super good), and funeral potatoes. My mom got the recipes from Dave's mom and it all turned out delicious and Dave had the chance to feel like he was at home again. We sang happy birthday to the birthday boy and had a laugh after we realized both parents got him the same birthday cards.
Let me just say some sentimental mushy-ness about my darling husband for journaling sake. Dave is so persistent in everything he does. When he knows he wants something he will do the research and find every possible way to achieve what he's after. Dave is very creative in a lot of different ways. He has written some great poems (only because I made him) and he also has at least two different business ideas on his mind at all times. I admire his dedication to take care of our small family, knocking doors is not easy but he did it. I love that we've had a chance to spend so much time together and I can honestly say that he is a dear dear friend who I can't wait to spend eternity with!

Well, that was just cute. I loved all the things you said about Dave. I'm so glad he had a nice birthday and it sounds like you made it just lovely!
Happy belated birthday, Dave! I feel so bad that we weren't there to celebrate with you, but we will be home next Monday (the 8th), so we'll definitely have to get together and party!
Happy Birthday Dave that I have never met. :P Hopefully this summer huh?
Way to make his Sunday-birthday fun. That IS hard.
