Isn't life a mystery sometimes! As soon as you start feeling comfortable about it something gets thrown in the mix and WHAM you're lying on your living room floor with a broken foot. Maybe not necessarily the broken foot part but in my case it happened exactly like that. Yep, I broke my foot Monday night and yes this is my first broken bone.
I wish it would have happened under cool circumstances but it didn't. I even thought of making up a funny story for it but that still doesn't make me feel any better about the situation. So, here is the short and sweet version. I was walking into my garage to get the last of my groceries. Kiley was in the house safe and sound in her car seat. As I was walking down my garage steps I was deep in thought about who-knows-what, I got lazy with my left foot, it slipped, my flip flop caught the floor first causing my entire foot to roll under my body as I came crashing down on the garage floor. It hurt so bad and I remember thinking, "Oh my gosh! I broke my foot." A little dramatic but I was light headed and felt like throwing up. I crawled back into the house and laid next to Kiley's car seat. After a few minutes I picked her up and we moved carefully into the living room where we stayed and watched a movie until Dave came home.
I figured it was just a sprain so I RICE'd that foot all night hoping that by the next day I would be up and walking around. Nope, after a very painful nights sleep I was taken to the doctors to find out I broke the bone that leads to my pinky toe. Thus, planting me in a walking boot for the next month. Fortunately I only have to stay off it for 2 weeks.
It has been very interesting trying to take care of Kiley with the use of only one leg. I have been using an office chair that I kick around on to get her from my room to hers for naps. Thankfully, my family lives really close so my mom has been taking good care of us while Dave has been at work. Kiley has been very patient with me and I am so grateful she's at the age she's at. I couldn't imagine trying to chase around a 1 year old with a broken foot!

Oh man Hales, that totally stinks! I am so sorry! But you sure did give me a laugh for the day, I would have loved to hear the awesome story you came up with about the break.
Feel better quick!
Oh my goodness! Hailey I'm so sorry! Thank goodness you have your family close by, and thank goodness Kiley is still pretty stationary. So sad! I hope the next 2 weeks go by quick! (What a random time & way to break your first bone, by the way...!) :)
Part of me wants to be sweet and compassionate and tell you how sorry I am (which is true...) and part of me (the evil side...) wants Dave to post of video of you trying to push that chair around the house!!! :) Sorry you've had a rough fall!!!
I just couldn't believe it when David told me you had broken a bone in your foot...I thought -how is she going to do all she needs to do??? Well, who would have thought of a good old rolling chair. Great idea. Sure love you and miss you. Hope it heals up really quickly, you are in our prayers!!
