New York City

Last weekend me and some friends went to explore the Big Apple. I've been to New York before but this was my first time taking the train and riding on the subways...oh boy, what an experience. Luckily Brittany knew what she was doing and so she acted as our tour guide the whole day.

Our first stop was China town. Like I said, I've been to NY before but I forgot just how dirty and crowded it is. China town is probably the worst because you have millions of tourists looking for rip-off designer brands. We negotiated with the pushy Chinese store owners...you wouldn't believe how rude they can be about it. If they know you're not interested they push you out the door as fast as they can. We also had lots of people pulling us in their back rooms showing us the bags they couldn't have on display because it's illegal...I know it's shady but "everyone else was doing it!" After looking and bargaining I got a Dolce and Gabbana bag for $25...not bad for a great looking bag.

After China town we rode the subway down to Brooklyn to walk the Brooklyn bridge and eat at a famous Pizza place right by the bridge. We actually never walked the bridge because the line for Grimaldis was so long and it was HOT and humid.

Where's Waldo? This was the line for Grimaldis. You can see Brittany leaning out of the line with a gigantic backpack on her stomach.

We then headed back up to see the Temple, Central Park, and Times Square.

The Temple is such a sanctuary in this crazy world whether you're in Provo Utah or in New York City.

Central Park

We had about an hour to enjoy Times Square. Lucky for us a giant rain storm hit and so we had Time Square all to ourselves. While everyone was safely hiding under store awnings the four of us ran up the middle of Time Square, in the process getting soaked, but we enjoyed every minute we had.

We had a blast going up for the day and honestly by the end of the day I was so excited to go home. I know lots of people that would find the NYC lifestyle wonderful but I'm glad to be able to look out my window and see nothing but trees or mountains for that matter.

Hailey, you look so cute! It looks like you girls had a fun time. Do you know the city well enough now that you could be our tour guide if we came out? We should plan a trip out there for the four of us someday in the future...!

So you live "close" enough that you can go to NYC for the day? That is totally cool. I would go every weekend :)
