The Adventures of Ty

I am the oldest in my family followed by my little sister and two little brothers. My brother Ty's birthday was this past week and he turned 19! I still look at him and wonder how he got so tall? It's been fun living with my family because I get a chance to remember all of my brothers funny quirks. He cannot sit still for a second. He's always scaling some cliff, hiking up a mountain, or falling back down it on his bike. Ty's most prized possessions are an elk horn he found while hiking in some canyon, his bike, a trail marker he "found", and all his knives. He always has some life or death story to tell us after hiking, either he saw a giant cougar track or he was chased down the mountain by a Sasquatch.

His latest exploit made me have to share his daring-dos. About two weeks ago Ty took Dave and I on a hike up the mountain to his "fort". This was a tough hike! Imagine a mountain and think of almost the very top of that mountain...that's about where we hiked too. We made it up there though to find a bunch of tarps and ropes, the beginnings of a great fort.

This weekend Ty convinced three guys in our ward to hike up there with him to do a camp out. Needless to say we were all concerned about their safety so my dad, Dave, and I hiked up to meet them. I think secretly Dave and my dad wanted to camp but once we saw all the snow on the ground it didn't look too enticing anymore.

My dad got their fire going and we left. Apparently they used all the tarps and really made hammocks and that's what they slept in last night. Ty said it was awesome and in the morning they buried their coolers and tarps for later use, obviously they had to be buried!

These boys had coolers, tarps, ropes, sleeping bags and tons of food. I don't know how many trips it took them to get everything up to the top but I know it couldn't have been easy. I told my mom last night that we needed to write a children's book about all of Ty's adventures. What little boy wouldn't relate to our adventurous Ty!

I'm just tired THINKING about that! Holy smokes! We just love Ty in our family. My kids still talk about our visit to Nathan and Ty's house and it's been YEARS!!! Happy Birthday Ty!!!
